Keep 55T for your current balance; choose 60T for a more torque-focused setup
For an OMW Cavalry or Hussar running the matched 150 mm or 175 mm pneumatic setup, keep the 55T wheel pulleys if you are happy with the way the board starts and climbs. Choose the compatible 60T CNC alloy pulley set when stronger low-speed pull matters more to you than the gearing's speed potential.
The matching belts change with the pulleys: 55T uses 335-5M; 60T uses 355-5M. The 60T set discussed here is for compatible OMW alloy wheel hubs. It is not a universal pulley swap for every wheel or board.

Choose the gearing for the change you actually want
- Your present pneumatic setup works well: stay with 55T. A larger tooth count is not a necessary upgrade for every rider.
- You want a more torque-focused start or climb on the same tires: choose the matched 60T setup, provided your hubs are the compatible OMW alloy version.
- You are simply replacing a worn belt: keep the existing pulley specification and order its matching belt. There is no need to change gearing to replace a consumable.
- You want a different ride over cracks or rough ground: decide on the tire or wheel type first. Our route-based OMW wheel upgrade guide covers that decision.
What changes between 55T and 60T?
The drive ratio is the wheel-pulley tooth count divided by the motor-pulley tooth count. With the confirmed 15T motor pulley on the Cavalry/Hussar configurations covered here, 55 divided by 15 is about 3.7:1; 60 divided by 15 is 4.0:1.
| Setup | 55T | 60T |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel pulley | 55T plastic | 60T CNC alloy, for compatible OMW alloy hubs |
| Motor pulley | 15T | 15T |
| Drive ratio | About 3.7:1 | 4.0:1 |
| Matching belt | 335-5M | 355-5M |
| Starting recommendation | Keep when the existing ride suits you | Choose for a more torque-focused setup |
At the same motor torque and before drivetrain losses, the 60T gearing provides about 9.1% more torque multiplication than 55T. With the same tire diameter and motor speed, wheel speed is about 8.3% lower. These are calculated gearing differences, not measured promises of 9.1% faster acceleration or an exact change in real-world top speed.
The upgrade does not add battery capacity or motor power. It also does not establish a new safe hill grade, a guaranteed stopping distance or a particular range increase. Use it to change the gearing tradeoff, not to justify riding beyond the board's operating limits.
Order the complete combination, not just a tooth count
For the compatible Cavalry/Hussar pneumatic conversion, choose the 60T CNC Alloy Pulley Set option labelled for OMW 6-inch/7-inch pneumatic wheels. Its listed contents are two 60T pulleys with bearings, two 355-5M belts and ten screws and nuts. The separate DIY option lists pulleys with bearings; it is not the same package.
If you only need belts for an established setup, use the OMW Pneumatic Tire Belt listing and select 335-5M for 55T or 355-5M for 60T. Check the chosen quantity before checkout. A belt that happens to fit over the pulleys is not proof of correct compatibility or tension.
Keep the model boundary clear: the Lancer 150 mm kit uses 55T with 325-5M, not the Cavalry/Hussar 335-5M combination. Super Cavalry is a separate drivetrain. This guide does not recommend fitting the Cavalry/Hussar 60T kit to Lancer, Gladius or Super Cavalry.
Check the setup before riding
- Identify the hardware: confirm Cavalry or Hussar, the actual tire diameter, hub version and current motor/wheel pulleys. If the hubs are not the compatible OMW alloy version, do not order this as a direct swap.
- Use the matching parts: keep 55T with 335-5M, or fit the compatible 60T set with 355-5M. Do not retain the shorter belt just because it can be forced into place.
- Follow the applicable installation procedure: switch off the board and remote and disconnect the charger before work. Use the OMW installation and maintenance video library for the matching hardware. Check fasteners, belt tracking and cover clearance, using the tension and fastener settings specified for your hardware.
- Update the displayed setup: use the applicable OMW remote/app instructions to enter the actual wheel diameter and ratio. With the 15T motor pulley, use about 3.7 for 55T or 4.0 for 60T; a 150-to-175 mm tire change also changes the diameter entry.
- Check operation before normal riding: begin with a controlled low-speed check on a clear, dry, level area only after assembly is complete. If drive skipping, rubbing or unexpected braking remains, stop and resolve it rather than continuing to tighten the belt or ride.
Common questions
Do I need 60T to change from 150 mm to 175 mm tires?
No. The documented standard Cavalry/Hussar pneumatic combinations use 55T and 335-5M with either diameter. Choose the tire for your route and 60T for its gearing tradeoff; they are separate decisions.
Will 60T fix a belt that skips?
Do not treat a pulley upgrade as fault repair. Stop riding and find the cause first. A damaged belt, incorrect tension or alignment problem still needs attention. The OMW belt replacement and size guide helps distinguish a replacement purchase from a configuration change.
What should I send OMW if my hub version is unclear?
Send your board model, order details, tire size and clear stationary photos of the rear hub, pulley and motor mount to support@omwboards.com. This check is for unidentified or modified hardware, not a substitute for the known setup recommendations above.
Make the choice in one line
Keep 55T if the current ride suits you. For a compatible Cavalry/Hussar alloy-hub pneumatic setup that needs a more torque-focused feel, choose the matched 60T set and 355-5M belts, then complete the installation and settings checks before riding.
