OMW Deck Flex: Choose HF, MF or LF for Cavalry & Hussar

HF, MF and LF on Cavalry and Hussar all support 150 kg / 330 lb riders. Choose by flex preference, with a separate Hussar HF ground-clearance consideration.

HF, MF and LF on the OMW Cavalry and Hussar all support riders up to 150 kg / 330 lb. The grades change how much the deck flexes, not its load capacity. Choose the amount of movement you enjoy, then account for the different enclosure designs on the two boards.

A lighter rider can choose LF for a firmer platform with less movement. A heavier rider can choose HF for a more flexible ride. On the Hussar, however, a heavier rider using HF needs to consider battery-enclosure ground clearance over potholes.

In this guide

Choose by feel, not by a different weight limit

Grade Choose it when you want Rider capacity on either model
HF: High Flex The most deck movement of the three options. Up to 150 kg / 330 lb.
MF: Medium Flex A middle ground between movement and a firmer platform. Up to 150 kg / 330 lb.
LF: Low Flex The least deck movement and a firmer feel. Up to 150 kg / 330 lb.

If you prefer a firmer platform as your riding pace increases and only want a little flex, choose LF, even if you are a light rider. You do not need to choose HF simply because you weigh less. LF is a flex preference, not a deck reserved for heavier riders, and it does not make a particular speed safe.

If you enjoy a lot of deck movement, choose HF. A heavier rider can choose HF for that feel, up to the same 150 kg / 330 lb rider limit. The important extra consideration is the Hussar's clearance, explained below.

Use MF when you want some movement but do not want the deepest flex. Rider weight affects how much a deck moves under you, so any rider-weight ranges shown in the product selector are suggested starting points for ride feel. They are not separate load limits or a requirement to choose only one grade.

Hussar: distinguish load capacity from ground clearance

The Hussar combines a flexible deck with a segmented Chain-Whip battery enclosure that follows the deck's movement. This gives the complete board its pronounced flex.

A heavier rider can use a Hussar HF deck within the same 150 kg / 330 lb rider limit as MF or LF. But deeper flex lowers the battery enclosure toward the ground. When crossing a pothole, a heavier rider on HF can bottom out the enclosure. This is a clearance issue, not a lower load rating for HF.

For a heavier rider whose route includes potholes, choose MF or LF when less deck movement matters more than maximum flex. Choose HF if you want the most movement and accept the clearance tradeoff. Choosing less flex is not a reason to ride through potholes without care.

Cavalry: heavier riders can choose HF

The Cavalry pairs its flexible composite deck with a rigid protective alloy battery enclosure, so the complete board feels more supported than the Hussar. OMW confirms that heavier riders choosing Cavalry HF do not face the same deck-flex-related enclosure bottoming-out issue described above for Hussar.

If you are a heavier rider who wants a lot of flex without that Hussar-specific concern, Cavalry HF is a suitable choice. You do not need LF for extra load capacity. If you prefer a firmer platform instead, choose Cavalry LF.

This distinction concerns how the board flexes under the rider. It is not a promise that any board can clear every road obstacle.

Examples: match the grade to your preference

What you want Cavalry Hussar
Light rider; firmer feel with only a little flex LF. LF.
Heavier rider; maximum deck movement HF. HF; the enclosure can bottom out over potholes.
Heavier rider; firmer support and less movement LF. LF.
Either rider; some movement without choosing the deepest flex MF. MF.

Choose your model, then your flex

If you are still choosing between the boards, use the Cavalry vs Hussar comparison for battery capacity, carry weight and riding use. Once you have chosen the model, select HF, MF or LF for the ride you want. On Hussar, include the clearance tradeoff in that decision.

Select the Deck Model on the OMW Cavalry product page or the OMW Hussar product page. Choose wheels and shipping separately. The guidance here applies to Cavalry and Hussar, not to the flex settings of Gladius or Lancer.

For a replacement deck, use the dedicated Cavalry deck or Hussar deck listing and choose the drilling version for your build. The complete-board clearance explanation above should not be transferred to a different DIY enclosure.
