Choosing the right electric skateboard wheels changes far more than comfort. Wheel diameter, construction, pulley size and belt length affect clearance, grip, acceleration, range, maintenance and the settings shown on your remote. MAD 92mm vs MAD 105mm vs MAD 125mm vs OMW 150mm and 175mm

The final ride also depends on deck flex, trucks, bushings, rider weight, speed, tire pressure and gearing. The descriptions below combine OMW configuration data with patterns reported by real riders; individual impressions are not guarantees.

MAD Mini 92mm: low, light and agile

The MAD Mini measures 92mm by 62mm with a 72A compound. Its main OMW applications are Gladius and Lancer. It lowers the board slightly, reduces rotating mass and gives riders a more traditional skateboard-like connection to the road.

Independent riders commonly describe the 92mm as grippy, agile and responsive. Several also report that it handles small cracks and square-edged bumps better than a conventional solid urethane wheel of a similar size. The tradeoff is clear: compared with 105mm or 125mm, you feel more of the pavement and have less ground clearance. Some riders also notice a hum from the hollow wheel structure.

Choose MAD Mini 92mm when the route is mostly paved and you value quick direction changes, lower ride height and a lighter board. For an OMW drivetrain, the 92mm setup on Gladius or Lancer uses a 36T pulley and 265-5M belt.

MAD Wheelz V2 105mm: grip, carving and precision

MAD Wheelz V2 measures 105mm by 70mm and uses a 72A compound. It is the stock wheel on Gladius and Lancer and an important street option for Cavalry and Hussar.

The ride is grip-led and precise. Riders who prefer 105mm often mention confident carving, predictable traction and a more immediate response when accelerating from a stop. It is the strongest choice in this guide for riders who want a sporty, locked-in street feel without moving down to the lower 92mm setup.

The 105mm wheel still transfers more road texture than an air tire, and its strong grip does not make dusty, sandy or wet pavement safe. Compared with MAD MAX 125mm, it also has less effortless free roll. Lancer and Gladius use 40T pulleys with 280-5M belts; Cavalry and Hussar use 40T pulleys with 290-5M belts.

MAD MAX 125mm: plush cruising and efficient free roll

MAD MAX measures 125mm by 80mm with a 70A compound. The larger diameter and wide profile create a more relaxed cruiser feel than 105mm. Riders frequently mention smoother passage over cracks, longer coasting and less need to stay on the throttle on good roads.

This unusually strong free-roll performance also helps explain why OMW's published Cavalry and Hussar range tests are slightly higher with MAD MAX 125mm than with MAD Wheelz V2 105mm. The result comes from the complete matched configuration, not diameter alone.

The tradeoff is a less nimble feel. On dusty or sandy pavement, some riders report that the 125mm can break traction more readily during hard cornering. Experienced riders may enjoy that progressive, drift-friendly character, but a beginner should build speed gradually and avoid aggressive throttle input through a turn.

Choose MAD MAX 125mm for street cruising, rougher pavement and maximum published range on Cavalry or Hussar. Lancer uses 45T pulleys with 295-5M belts; Cavalry and Hussar use 45T pulleys with 300-5M belts. Super Cavalry can also be factory-configured with MAD MAX 125mm. Gladius does not support MAD MAX 125mm; its largest supported wheel diameter is 110mm.

OMW 150mm pneumatic: balanced mixed-terrain comfort

The 150mm pneumatic tire absorbs sharp impacts through air pressure instead of relying only on the wheel compound. It is the stock choice on Hussar and a useful Cavalry option for riders who want mixed-terrain comfort while keeping the board lower than a 175mm setup.

Riders moving from solid street wheels usually notice less vibration, more confidence over patchwork asphalt and better comfort on longer rides. The cost is regular pressure checks, more rolling resistance and the possibility of tube or tire maintenance. OMW recommends 30 PSI for the current 150mm tire.

For Cavalry and Hussar, the 150mm pneumatic configuration uses a 55T wheel pulley and 335-5M belt. This is the stock wheel size on Hussar and an alternative configuration for Cavalry. For stronger acceleration, the optional 60T metal pulley uses a 355-5M belt. Lancer uses its own 150mm configuration and drivetrain parts.

OMW 175mm pneumatic: rough roads and off-road clearance

The 175mm pneumatic tire is the stock setup on Cavalry. Its larger diameter gives more clearance and rolls over potholes, broken edges and trail irregularities more easily than the smaller options. Real Cavalry riders often describe the 175mm setup as the option that lets them stop scanning every small crack and focus more on the route.

The tradeoff is size and weight. The board feels more terrain-focused, and pneumatic tires require pressure and condition checks. OMW recommends 36 PSI for the current 175mm tire.

For Cavalry and Hussar, the 175mm pneumatic configuration uses a 55T wheel pulley and 335-5M belt. This is the stock wheel size on Cavalry and an alternative configuration for Hussar. For stronger acceleration, the optional 60T metal pulley uses a 355-5M belt, trading some top-end gearing for more powerful acceleration.

MAD Race 165mm street tubeless: street and track grip

MAD Race Wheels with 165mm street tubeless tires are compatible with Cavalry, Hussar and Super Cavalry when ordered as the correct factory set. They use MAD metal pulleys and 380-5M belts in the latest OMW configuration. Their wide street-focused contact patch provides strong traction and stability for track sessions and fast paved-road riding.

This is not the same job as a 175mm all-terrain tire. Choose 165mm MAD Race when paved-road grip and track behavior matter most; choose 175mm pneumatic when loose or rough terrain and obstacle clearance matter more.

What riders report in real-world use

Public rider feedback supports the basic tradeoffs, but it is not perfectly uniform because boards, rider weight, road surface, tire pressure and riding speed differ.

How wheel choice changes published OMW range

Wheel size alone does not predict range. Construction, free roll, tire pressure, gearing, rider weight, speed and terrain all matter. OMW's controlled Cavalry and Hussar tests compare complete matched configurations.

MAD MAX 125mm has the highest published result in these tests. OMW attributes its small advantage over 105mm to the 125mm wheel's excellent free-roll performance and the efficiency of the complete matched setup. It does not mean that increasing diameter always increases range.

Which wheel sizes fit each OMW board?

Match the wheel, pulley and belt to the board

The wheel pulley is the large pulley attached to the driven wheel. Do not confuse it with the smaller motor pulley when calculating drive ratio.

After changing wheels: update the remote or Tuya Smart App

After installing a different wheel setup, update wheel diameter, drive ratio and pole pair in the remote or Tuya Smart App. If the diameter or ratio is wrong, the displayed speed and distance will be inaccurate.

• Wheel diameter: enter the actual installed diameter in millimeters.
• Drive ratio: divide the wheel-pulley tooth count by the motor-pulley tooth count.
• Pole pair: keep this at 7 for OMW boards; it does not change with the wheel.

When a 2-in-1 setup makes sense

A 2-in-1 package makes sense when weekday and weekend routes are genuinely different. Use the stock wheel for regular riding, then install the matched second set for a different surface or ride feel.

Depending on inventory, the stock-wheel board may ship from a local warehouse while the second wheel set ships separately by express from the factory. The two parcels can arrive at different times. A complete set may include bearings, pulleys, belts or covers that a bare-wheel option does not include.

Maintenance differences to consider before buying

• MAD 92mm, 105mm and 125mm: no tire-pressure or inner-tube maintenance. Inspect for uneven wear, chunking, embedded debris and bearing play.
• OMW 150mm pneumatic: maintain 30 PSI and inspect the tread, sidewall and tube condition.
• OMW 175mm pneumatic: maintain 36 PSI and inspect the tread, sidewall and tube condition.
• After installation: confirm free rotation, belt alignment and clearance from the deck, motor mounts and belt guards.
• After the first 10 to 20km: recheck screws and axle nuts, then continue regular belt and bearing inspections.
• After any diameter or pulley change: update wheel diameter and drive ratio in the remote or Tuya Smart App; keep pole pair at 7.

OMW does not recommend riding in rain or on wet roads. A treaded, hollow or pneumatic tire does not remove the traction, braking, bearing and electrical risks created by wet conditions.

Should I choose MAD Mini 92mm or MAD Wheelz V2 105mm?

Choose 92mm for a lower, lighter and more agile Gladius or Lancer. Choose 105mm for more clearance, more impact isolation and a broader OMW street setup. Both retain a direct street-wheel feel.

Should I choose MAD 105mm or MAD 125mm?

Choose MAD 105mm for maximum grip, sharper carving and a more precise response. Choose MAD 125mm for plush cruising, longer free roll and easier rollover on imperfect pavement. Build speed gradually on dusty or sandy roads with either wheel.

Why did MAD MAX 125mm test slightly farther than MAD 105mm?

OMW attributes the difference to MAD MAX 125mm's strong free-roll performance and the efficiency of the complete matched configuration. The result does not establish a universal rule that larger wheels always travel farther.

Should I choose OMW 150mm or 175mm pneumatic tires?

Choose 150mm for a lower, street-biased mixed-terrain setup. Choose 175mm when rough roads, potholes, clearance and regular off-road sections matter more than size and weight.

Can Gladius use MAD MAX 125mm?

No. MAD MAX 125mm is not compatible with Gladius. The largest supported Gladius wheel diameter is 110mm.

Can Super Cavalry use MAD MAX 125mm?

Yes, as a factory configuration. The standard order options remain 165mm street tubeless tires for track or street use and 160mm hot-melt racing slicks mainly for the track.

Do I need to change settings after changing wheels?

Yes. Enter the actual wheel diameter, calculate drive ratio as wheel-pulley teeth divided by motor-pulley teeth, and keep pole pair at 7. Incorrect settings make the displayed speed and distance inaccurate.
